Fan finally working but.......
Glad to see my cooling fan is working with the new relay, but I have a question, the positive cable and terminal seems to be smoking, plus my jumper cable was hot. Car was hard to start. i can only guess that maybe they gave me the wrong relay or is it the cable gone bad? It is a 40 amp relay. Help please

Smoking cables is usually a sign that the Starter is going bad.
I would replace the battery cables both positive and negative, then also replace the ground from the frame to the tranny/engine. If you have a ground to the firewall missing then I would replace that ground too.

most of your local autoparts stores should carry the cables. Might take a little fab work to make them fit grounding point and such, but it can be done with some basic tools.
If you still get hot cables & smoke and the starter still sounds like it's having a hard time, it might be the starter going bad and pulling too many amps.

Ya know, try tightening the bolts for the starter, if they are loose then you have a flaky ground on it.....

Re: Fan finally working but.......
besides the ground wire to the starter, the hood and the one by trans are there anymore gound wires? Someone told me about earth ground or earth wire, the braided wire. Can this be found at auto parts store? or any other type pf ground wire? Does the ground wire affect any other power/electrical componets in the car? i.e power windows and such? Thank you in advance Brian and others.

You can buy the braided wire at a parts store, or a Radio Shack. Solder wick (copper braided) makes a exceptional flex ground you can solder the ends flat and drill a hole.
The Starter hasn't a ground.... It has power cables only.
The Grounds are from the Negative lead of the battery to the Frame infront of the strut tower. From the Frame to the Transmission
From the body of the Alternator to the bracket attached to the engine, and from the drivers side rear nut on the valve cover to the
firewall.
On Digifants there are additional grounds from the frame to the ECU mounting bracket.
