coolant system operating pressure
can anyone tell me what the normal operating coolant system pressure is for an '89 vw cabby ? the shop i'm dealing with applied a pressure test for an hour and now says their is a leak in the heater core when there was no leak before.............jim

Pressure test should be 14.5 psi or 1bar. If they pressure it to that, then it bleeds off slowly, with no hoses leaking then they can assume that it is the heater core.
You may have had a pin hole leak that was calcified but the pressure test opened it up.
