crap!
i went to have an front-end alignment done to the cab today. they drove it in, put it on the ramp, looked at it and drove it back out.
the guy came out and said they couldn't do an alignment to it because it was too low in the front and the RS bumper cover was in the way! DAMN!
so i called around to a few other shops, most wouldn't even TOUCH a lowered car....DAMN!
i finally found a old alignment shop here in town that only does alignments. i drove over there to show them what they had to work with and they said they would give it a try, they aren't going to promise anything tho.
i take it in this thursday at 8:00am...wish me luck.

Well Ben, that pretty much solves it. You will just have to throw some crap tires on there and drive the cab down here and take it to our alignment guy that specializes in lowered everything. Hard to beat the $42 for an alignment too.
An don't worry, we'll put ya up in Casa-De-Snyder.
Seriously though, I hope ya find someone that can/will do it. Rather then just calling alignment shops, call some custom shops in your area and find out where they send folks for alignments on lowered bruisers.

thats the troubles of living in a small town, we don't really have any custom shops around here. now if i lived in columbus there would be no problem, but its 50 miles away.
i'm thinking about just taking the front bumper off when i take it over for the alignment thursday, that way nothing is in the way!

theres prolly 10 different places in town, all said no because of the RS bumper and it's low. so screw it, i'm looking into buying some alignment equipment.

sorry to hear that....how low is your car? I got my alignment done with no problems, I have the h&R sports springs and 205/50/15 tires. I will try to remember who told me about a manual alignment write up, somebody told me a while back....

A flat and level surface to work on is a must.1lowcab wrote:.... looks like i'll be doing a homebrew alignment this weekend.
anyone have any tips?
A pair of glossy print magazines to use as slip plates, seriously. Read them before hand, you won't be able to after.
A framing square, a digital caliper, a scientific calculator and High School level triginometry to measure and calculate camber.
A jack, a nail in a pair of Vise Grips as a scribe and a tape measure with a helper to hold it to set the toe.
