It applies whenever you're looking from the wire side of the sensor. If you were looking from the back side it would be the other way around.
Play around with a nut and bolt, holding the nut still and turning the bolt, and you'll see what I mean. The bolt is the sensor, the nut is the bung in the manifold.
This is one of those things everyone has trouble with when they first start working on cars.

Yatta! haha. So the sensor is off and the new one is in place. That only took 2 and a half some weeks. *sigh* That was cathartic. Now for the other repairs!

unfortunately for me that didn't seem to fix the rough idle I've been experiencing. Upon driving my car last night, the idle seemed the same, if not worse. She even had trouble going uphill, getting stuck at 25 mph, reving very high 3500-4000 (which I have never seen my car do), and still sputtering upon acceleration. Ugh. I have no idea what the heck is wrong with my car!
