6 inches of snow
my optima red top isn't starting the car
oh joy

so, i hopped the bus to work
just need a quick clarification/confirmation since i don't have my bentley at work...

Rabbit/Cabby battery size is Group 42 correct?
85 Cab - 1.9L 8v, g-grind, euro dual downs to TT race w/ Borla, VWMS fuel dizzy, 2H tranny with 5th gear swap, TT short shift, FK 60/40, 15" BBS RA, rear disks... begging for boost...

I don't have my bently handy either, but I've heard of many floks in colder climate using the Optima yellow top rather then the red. I think some freak also said he was using the blue (marine) top one durring winters.

yeah
the red top was a freeby
the yellow can also be considered a marine battery as its also a deepcycle
i had been planning on going yellow anyways since i'm going to be going to 80/100w bulbs and eventually going to go overboard on a stereo...

well
for archival sake
OE battery size is group 41 or 42
either will work
as will many others

cool, good to know. Looks like I'll be in the market for a optima very soon myself as I just noticed that my curent batter is leaking and eating away my lower intake hose :x

well...
after reading around a bit more, i think i'm gonna save a few bucks and go with an Excide Orbital
very similar to the Optimas, but people seem to get a much better life out of them...

Really? Are they a gel-cell also? I might have to look into those as I hadn't heard about poor longevity from the optima's.

the problem with using a Deep Cycle battery in a car you drive everyday is the battery will not last as long as it should. deep cycles are intended for periodic usage. when you run it in a car you drive daily, the battery get a memory of sorts, and will eventually wear out quicker (in other words you'll get about 3 years out of it)
