Buttons in Trunk

Post by Old Screaming Eagle »

I need a stupid question answered. I'm trying to get to the tail lights thru the trunk to install so new side marker lights. My problems is removing the little buttons that keep in place the cardboard panels. I'm tearing up the buttons or destroying the cardboard. Is there an easy way to remove these buttons within doing damage to the cardboard divider or to the buttons? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The buttons are like the mouding clips, they have a center that is depressed that locks the fingers in place, what I did was punch that center toward the interior of the fender till I was left with a little hole, and the buttons came out... problem is that the buttons are usually destroyed in
the process, and you have to replace them (help section at PepBoys.)

Thanks Brian, I really appreciate the information. I just hate to mess up the cardboard because it's in so good of shape. Thanks again for you help.
