A/C and Alternator Bracket

Post by triplewhite »

The two pivot bolts for the a/c have been sheared off in this bracket (part# 027260885) since I got the car, which explains why it devours alternator belts. Whilst working on the transmission replacement this weekend I decided to tackle this too. I don't think I'm going to be able to drill and tap these out.

Anyone have one they want to sell, or know where I could get one?

My A/C doesn't work, so I did consider removing altogether, but I kind of want to keep the car stock. I did see a nifty serpentine conversion though and I'm very tempted...

Any advice?

Do you need the bolts or the bracket? I might have a spare braket, but I'm unsure, would need to dig through the parts bins.

However, to remove the AC, you need an entirely different bracket, though here have been some other creative ways of keeping the old bracket. I think they have used a round metal bar drilles and tapped at both ends. Then they screw eyelets with hemi joins in the ends to make an adjustable bar and mount the alt where the AC would notmally bolt to the bracket. It can look pretty trick when done right.

Cool, anyone have any pictures?

I could use the bracket and the bolts if you have them... thanks!
