I suspect where you're getting confused is the heater requires both power and ground. The reason both wires are white is the heater doesn't care about polarity.

Re: Oil cooler seal replacement
Yeah, good thought. I actually didn't realize they were a common failure item; I've never had one fail.
Mine was in surprisingly good shape inside from what I could see. I was expecting to see some scale and corrosion in the water passages, but there wasn't any.

Re: Oil cooler seal replacement
This was purely preventative on this car, and a bit of a pain, but I'm glad I did it. My three-way hose was spongy and coming apart internally, and it turned out someone had substituted the seal from an old oil filter for my oil cooler seal! I'm slightly surprised it held as long as it did. If you d...

Re: Ok need your help naming this tune.
Come to think of it, my bad front wheel bearing made a cyclic roaring sound. Sort of a "WUH-WUH-WUH" that got distinctly louder when I turned a corner with the bad one on the outside. I could feel it through the floorboard, too. It made no noise when spun unloaded on the rack so it took a ...

I will file that information away for future use.Briano1234 wrote:To pop the hood a flat blade screw driver and it is under the very top slat of the grille. It was painless.
Also, I think I'm going to grease my hood latch this weekend. It's stiff and I don't want to suffer the same fate.

Re: Ok need your help naming this tune.
Where did it break? If it's at the handle, you could try grabbing the stub end with vise grips. Otherwise it's going to have to be by snagging the latch lever from underneath or through the grille, I think...

Something rubbing against a wheel or rotor? Do these cars have dust shields/backing plates? Can't remember right now.

Also make sure you put it on the right way. Sounds silly but I put one on wrong, so the snap was farther forward. I ripped two snaps out of my boot before I figured out why it was fitting so darn tight on that side.

Re: What would be damaged if someone jumped the battery back
You'll at least need the parts from the airflow meter to the intake manifold. Any air that gets into the engine without going through the AFM first is a problem.
If it idles your ECU is working, that's the good news.

Almost certainly the ignition switch. The computer is not your problem.

I gotta do this to the Mercedes. Reservoir is full of black gunk, and it's clogged the washer check valve and nozzles.

So did you ever get this car sorted out? I meant to check back on you, but we decided to move to a new apartment and I've been drowning in cardboard boxes for the last two weeks.

Pretty sure it's not bad gas in my case. It's been consistent for a long time. If you have fuel pressure gauges, you might want to check the residual pressure. I've heard that a bad accumulator or check valve can exacerbate this, by letting the fuel pressure fall off after the car is shut down. Both...

Re: seat covers
I just put some almost exactly like that in my Mercedes. The seat foam was worn out on the driver's side, so I slid a sheet of foam under the cover before snugging it down. Very comfy.
