Re: Wheel/tire size

Oooh, my bad....Sorry to hear about your Mom.

I have met several fantastically sexist females and they are
to be commended.

My apology for hijacking this thread, back into hibernation I go.

Re: Wheel/tire size

In spite of Brian's collage, my 17's look great. Pffffflllllltttttt!
The 195/70/14's will work fine. That is stock wheel size for
Mk3's and get swapped around routinely up here.
Hey Brian....you take pictures of your Mom with that camera?

Re: Stereo wiring info. request

Hey thanks for looking! I did find that, unfortunately it is for the passive six speaker system. So I took matters into my own hands. Never a good thing. I was baffled by the two common wires for both sides of the system. Plugged the old VW head unti in and found that the w/bl wire was switched powe...

Re: Stereo wiring info. request

I saw that on another forum, mine has been burned off. Looks to me like there are four positive speaker wires and one common ground. Interesting. Going to try that as soon as I get a minute.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: Stereo wiring info. request

Thanks Brian, Here's the problem with that, those pages do not specifically outline which wire is positive or negative for which speaker. Bentley shows 10 wires going to each front speaker. Fine, narrowed it down to somewhere between 4-6 wires are speaker wires, still don't know what goes to what. T...

Stereo wiring info. request

Hey guys, Been awhile, I am still alive and have purchased a replacement for my beloved 1990 Cabby.....a 1991, same color and everything. I hate red. Whatever. I would like to swap my Kenwood CD player into the new one. This vehicle has the amplified front speakers. Anybody have any idea which wires...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

If the dealer won't reflash the ecm then remove the rear O2 sensor and space it out with a spark plug non-fouler. It gets it out of the stream of exhaust but still allows it to "sniff" and give proper feedback. I have fixed a few that way.

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Yep, creative wiring was my conclusion as well. Normally I can straighten this stuff out in very little time. Aftermarket stereo is an affirmative. Nothing but a hole there when I got the car. I removed all of there um......engineering? Then wired one in correctly. There was some kind of equipment i...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Checked for commonality between brake lights and defroster, found zip. Yes, ground to defroster is good. The defroster works fantastic actually. This isn't a major issue, she knows enough not to leave the defroster on. (cause this makes all the brake lights stay lit) The only drawbacks are: A) When ...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Hey, Bri....I have checked the grounds at the brake lights, all good and no dimness whatsoever. I have pulled the fuse for the brake lights and they still work, so does the defroster. So I put the brake lights fuse back in and pulled the defroster fuse, defroster inop. until I apply the brakes. Figu...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Yeah the bulb holders are notorious on the 3rd gen. Golfs and Jettas. Tried all that. Used the wiring diagrams and all wires and connectors are where they are supposed to be. I manufactured a ground on both sides to the body as I do on all of these as a matter of fact. Cuts down on the complaints do...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

"rear passenger side brake plate" Not sure what you are referring to. The actual backing plate for the brake shoes doesn't seem relevant. All of the bulb holders in both driver's and passenger's tail light assemblies have been triple checked. No wires from the defroster have been spliced i...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Perfectly understandable, however, given enough time I could find where the bypass was. I can't figure out what happened with my daughter's car. Back in Ma. I had a friend who raced at a track that offered the winner's car up for sale at the end of every race for $500. Kept people from putting expen...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

My daughter's 96 Golf lights up it's rear deforoster light when the brakes are applied. I have chased down every circuit multiple times. No idea whatsoever. Previous owner was an incredible genius, would love to sit down and talk to that gentleman sometime. Yikes!
